What is included
- Vacuum sediment and sludge from the bottom of the tank
- Hose down the tank walls and floor with a high-pressure line to lift built-up sediment and algae
- Check the inlet screen and overflow, and note anything that needs attention
- Discard the removed sludge on a suitable spot on your property, or take it away
- Refill the tank on request
- Suitable for concrete, poly, galvanised, fibreglass and stainless steel tanks
Common questions
How often should a rainwater tank be professionally cleaned?
Every two to three years is the general recommendation, more often if the property has been through bushfire smoke and ash or any other event that has contaminated the water.
Why get it done professionally?
Sediment builds up from leaves, twigs, insects and small animals getting into the tank. Left alone it discolours the water, blocks pipes and can grow harmful bacteria. Doing it yourself often leaves the fine sediment behind, which is the part that causes most of the problems.
What affects the price?
Where the property is, the capacity of the tank, whether there is an opening on top we can access, whether the truck can get within about 10 metres, whether you want a top-up of water, whether there is somewhere on the property to discard the sludge, and whether you can drain the tank before we arrive. What can I do to keep the tank clean between services?
Clean the gutters and clear leaf matter off the roof, cut back trees and shrubs hanging over the tank, and rinse insect and overflow screens on a regular basis.
